So I don't have an exact date that this occurred on so I will just post it today. Now mind you I've only had one incident with scissors and that was when we first got here and Kailee decided she needed a haircut and gave it to herself. Since then I have never had to watch or worry about her scissors. Justin either for that matter. They both know where they are where they go what to do with them and so on. Speaking of haircuts everyone in this family with the exception of Paul is in dire need for one. I have only mentioned poor Justin needing a hair cut for weeks and of course Kailee knows she is over due for a trim. As I mentioned yesterday Paul and Justin went and ran some errands while Kailee and I just sat at home cleaning and whatnot. I don't know the exact time but it was during me prepping dinner that I so affectionately touched the top of my son's head and bent and kissed him. Hmm odd I thought has my hand felt a rough spot. Nothing unusual considering many things end up in his hair. I go about my business then something triggers my memory. A pair of extra sharp kitchen scissors Kailee had laying on her bedroom floor. The usage was to cut open a princess package. The more and think as I am stirring my raw chicken in BBQ sauce and glancing towards the back of my son's head. They had been spending a lot of time in her room lately at night watching a Dora movie. How odd her sweetness kept coming out when normally he is forbidden from her room. So I slowly walk up behind my son and look directly down. Almost panicking at this point. My worst fears. A bald spot staring back at me. It has to just be the way his crazy over grown hair is falling I think. I reach down touch and look closer. Damn, it's still there....
I start asking questions to which a huge smile appears on his face and both immediately begin denying his hair had been cut. I run to the garage, call Paul to come get these kids before I murder one. And, take a breather. We both attempt to get to the bottom of the mysterious bald spot now very evident when looking at his head from the side. Both still denying having done anything wrong. I go and start investigating. I find this on Kailee's floor.
I start picking it up and my heart sinks as I now know exactly what happened. I pick it up in the palm of my hand. Breath Mindy. Breath.

I calmly go back to where both of my fearful looking kids are and ask again what happened. Neither fess up so I start taking privileges away for the lying. Kailee burts out crying and goes to her room. I follow and give her another chance. She explains she is to scared to tell the truth. I tell her she better fear what will happen if she continues to lie. She then breaks... Success. She explains Justin told her to cut his hair because mommy said I need a haircut. I laugh and say try the whole truth. She tells me that is. I bring in Justin who to my shock confirms her story. I want haircut because you say I need a haircut. His words. Paul comes in whispers without trying to laugh. Kids will be kids he says. I'm upset. My son has a big head already and a buzz cut will just enhance that. He tells me he did it to himself as a child and it will grow back. Still doesn't put me at ease. How he's not upset and is actually laughing at these two brats I have no clue.
Kailee then proceeds to tell me she knows what she's doing and does not need to go to school for hair cutting. And that's supposed to make it all better? UGH. Needless to say I know have a keepsake.

Note to self: No matter how well behaved and smart your kids are curiosity will always get the best of them. Oh and remove all scissors from their reach. Kiddy or grown up forever.
