It is such a beautiful day. You can see snow covered mountains wherever you look right now and what a site. I'm so not used to having mountains surround me and to have a view of them wherever you go is just amazingly beautiful.
This afternoon the kids, Paul, and I went along with his car club to feed some homeless people. I stayed in the car with the kids explaining the process while Paul and two of his friends handed out sandwiches, chips, and water. We went to two different parks and another location and handed out about 50 plus sandwiches. The kids learned a lot and it was the most gratifying thing I have watched. The kids at first were very skeptical and didn't understand at all but at the end they both had a good understanding and definitely had a better appreciation of what they had. Kailee's innocence was so sweet. She kept making the comments "Why can't we build them a home?" "Why can't we get them a bed?" "That can't be comfortable sleeping on the floor." Why can't they just go to the store and get money to buy them some food?" She just want not getting it at first and thought it was such a simple process to fix. At them end I will say they both offered to give their own snacks to the homeless which made me very proud. I have never seem such appreciative and thankful people. You could tell this was a highlight in their day to have a meal. After watching I decided to bring up to my mom's group about doing something like this as part of a group. I'll find out more tomorrow but this is definitely something I want my family to continue and the kids to take a part in.
After we handed all the food we had out we headed to a BBQ on base for one of Paul's co workers who is leaving. The kids had a blast hanging out with their friends whom they haven't seen or been around in quite a while. I, however, was very uncomfortable. After all the drama I had no desire to be around any of the wives. I pretty much kept to myself and played with all the kids. I've done really good at separating myself and am trying to keep it that way. Once it was time to leave we got home and I put the kids to bed who fell asleep almost immediately which is a good thing since we have an early morning play date. I made chili and cornbread for Paul to take to work for dinner and now I'm updating the blog and doing some studying.
