Have you ever been educated about the demise of dinosaurs by a 4 year old? Well Paul and I can officially say yes. The other night I got schooled on the fact that dinosaurs once walked the Earth and were big and some ate meat and some ate plants. One really big one was named T-Rex. Everything up to this point I chalked up to Kailee's normal chit chat and obsession with dinosaurs. She has always been very interested in dinosaurs and would read this HUGE book about them all the time. Then she proceeds to tell me they all walked around together until a big meteorite crashed into the Earth and killed all the dinosaurs. That made them extinct. She then informs me that meteorites are abnormal and not a natural occurrence on the Earth to the extent of the dinosaur meteorite. Wow to say I was blown away would be an understatement. This has been the best education lesson from her since she explained gravity to me while we were in Texas. Yes she really used extinct, natural occurrence, meteorite, and abnormal all by herself and in correct sentence form. Apparently while I was at the clinic all day yesterday she gave Paul the lecture during breakfast. I tell you nothing escapes her and if she hears it she wants to know everything about it. Night time conversations around here are a blast and world of information.
Tonight after dinner I promised the kids a dessert. Something special and yummy Kailee asked for. So I decided to let them have some chocolate sugar free fat free pudding. Kailee ate hers in like 10 seconds. I swear she ate it before I had Justin's even opened and placed on his tray. I was washing dishes and noticed JP had climbed out of his high chair. So I go to collect his dishes since I was loading the dishwasher and noticed his pudding and barely been touched. First thought what a waste, second thought I had salad for lunch it's mine. All mine. Third thought WHAT THE HECK is wrong with him? Does he have fever, tummy ache, blind and cannot see perfectly yummy CHOCOLATE pudding in front of him? I mean what kid who doesn't normally get to partake in sweets passes on pudding? He has to Paul's kid or something, cause I for one would never not eat all my chocolate pudding. Prunes maybe. Chocolate pudding, never.
Another kind of funny moment was at dinner when I looked at both the kids plates and realized they didn't touch their spinach. For JP I'm never surprised to see a pile left behind. The boy never has cared for veggies but I make sure he has them on his plate every meal we have them. But for Kailee it was kind of odd. She explains her Nana from Texas once gave her spinach she didn't like. Interesting considering we use the same Popeye spinach. So I explain to her eating spinach will give her strong muscles. And she says "well if I have to eat that just to get strong muscles I'll pass." I then try telling her all the people who have strong muscles that she will be like if she eats it. That's when I get the whole "I could never have muscles as big as my uncle. He has the biggest ones ever." All I can do is laugh because my brother has her so brainwashed into thinking he's the best, has the biggest muscles, and fastest car in the world. How one girl can be so smart in one sense and so naive in the next is beyond me. I suppose this is why people love nieces and nephews so they can trick them into thinking they are the best. Sure worked on my child. :)

Education and What the Heck is Wrong With my boy?

Oh theJoys of the Mall Play Area

This morning I took the kids to the mall to play area to play. Have I mentioned what awesome schedules my kids are on? They wake up between 08:30 and 09:00 which is perfect for play dates and activities before nap time. We get to the play area and of course the kids put in being hungry. I made them play for about 30 minutes before I could no longer take the I'm hungry, I want a drink from them. So we went to the Mc Donalds right across from the play area where they got Happy meals. I got a side salad and a water. Wasn't real hungry at 11:30 but figured I needed to eat something. The kids really enjoyed their Happy Meals. Justin got a new car to add to his collection and Kailee a new book. They both ate all four chicken nuggets and all their apples. That's huge for Kailee. She normally eats all the apples and maybe 2 chicken nuggets. JP would just assume eat all the nuggets and then the low fat caramel sauce and a few apples. LOL
So we go back to the play are and the kids run around and play and have a great time. Kailee got kicked in the face by some rough boy whose parents weren't watching him. That always pisses me off. I'm on mine like white on rice and always make sure they watch for other kids, take their turn, let smaller ones go first and yet mine are always the ones who get hurt. So this boy decides to do a running jump over Kailee. I mean come on. Common sense he's four w short legs. He's obviously not going to make it. And he doesn't. To make matters worse mom's in a corner chit chatting and not watching him at all. This is the same kid who punched another boy in the face. So of course this boy decides to follow my two the rest of the time which makes me even more aware of where my kids are and I'm watching this kid like a hawk. It started getting super packed, I decided to give the kids 20 more minutes before we left. I guess that was about the time every kid in there started getting tired, hungry, cranky, you name it cause there were kid meltdowns everywhere. As I'm walking out with both my kids one holding each hand I started thinking. For those parents who have the really bad kids, the ones who scream and cry, fight and bite, and throw tantrums the entire time do they feel like oh crap time to claim my kid/kids. You know as they are walking out it's like everyone in the play area suddenly realizes oh so that's that kid's parent. How embarrassing it must be. Thankfully my kids were on perfect behavior having their lives threatened if they dared cause scene. I don't do crowds and I definitely do not do the added attention from a kid who is acting up. So my kids made it safely back to the car and are now napping away peacefully. I'd say it has been a pretty good day so far with the exception of my camera dying half way through being at the play area and not completely working.
So the kids napped well JP did for one whole hour and so far hasn't been too grumpy. It's raining so I think the kids and I will do a craft. Kailee begs me every day to do arts and crafts so I think I'll make her day and let them do one. Bring on the construction paper, scissors, and glue.
