Today the kids and I pretty much stayed home due to having routine maintenance scheduled on the heater by our land lady and them giving her a five hour time frame of when they would be at the house. Kind of hard to get anything done when you have to wait. I made sure and had dinner ready early because tonight the kids and I got to go the Reid Park Zoo for zoo lights. We got there early expecting no line as was posted on the moms group site and in our light jackets. We were the first to get there, it was crazy windy and getting colder by the minute. And, did I mention the line. Ha it was sooo long. Members however got to walk right in. They didn't even let people purchase tickets until 6. We were in that like about 20 minutes when I was very tempted to just leave. Right as I was about to make my get away Amy showed up with Seirra. She was upset because she had asked if we should purchase tickets early and was told no that there was never a line for this event. She also had on light winter wear and thought it was way too cold and windy for the kids. However, the kids were excited and we decided to go ahead in. Lucky the kids hit it off since it was their first time meeting and remained excited the whole time. The bummer for them was the fact they all knew they were at the zoo but the live animal exhibits were closed off. Basically none of the animals were out for viewing and all three kids were more interested in looking for the animals than looking at the lights. Once we finally got it through to them that we were there for the lights they caught on and were fine. Lights there were. Tons and tons of lights. All colors and shapes and sizes. It was quite amazing. They had cookie tables, places to buy pop corn, hot chocolate, cotton candy, nachos. You name it it was there. We barely walked around for a hour before we had seen it all. It was fun and the kids enjoyed it. It wasn't too expensive. Actually I spent more on the cotton candy than the admittance. Now that's sad. Would I do it again. Probably not. I mean I could have drove the kids up and down a few neighborhoods and they could have seen what they had minus the food. The cotton and candy was obviously the high point for the kids. I personally was way too cold to enjoy it and it was pretty crowded. All I could think of was the kids being sick after being out in the cold. Anyways after zoo lights we all headed to Mc Donalds where the kids got to play for about a hour and have some apples. They loved it. Next thing I knew it was 9:00. The kids and I got home and I put them in the tub and then to bed. They have The Children's Museum in the morning and I want them to be nice and rested.
