Saturday Play Date

This morning I woke up before my alarm even went off. Actually I woke up in a panic that my alarm didn't go off. After a late night I still had a ton to do. The floors desperately needed to be mopped, the kids bathroom needed to be cleaned again, not to mention the vacuuming and the laundry. How was I ever going to get it all done. OH. AND...I had to make 4 dozen cake cookies for the group to snack on. First things first. I needed some coffee. I poured myself a cup and no longer had I taken the cleaners out did I hear little feet. Now mind you it's only 7:45 am and both the kids had a long night after spending time with their daddy at a bbq. So JP was up and clingy which of course made getting everything ready slightly difficulty. He calmed down and decided racing his cars was much more fun than helping me clean. Although, he did wipe he bathroom counters down. What a sweet little helper. So I rushing around to get everything ready and nice looking and I look up at the clock and it's 9:30. I was freaking out. I still had all the cookies to bake as well as get dressed. Oh and where is my daughter. Buried under the covers still asleep. GREAT! So I wake her up and get both the kids dressed in mad speed. And, move on to mixing and rolling out the cookies. I literally had just enough time to set up the craft, set out some goldfish, and ice a few batches of cookies before the first guest showed up. Then the real fun began. Kids everywhere. I mean everywhere LOL I ended up having more show up this time then last. The parents of course sat and chatted and basically did the craft project while the kids just enjoyed playing with everything and each other. Unlike the last play date I hosted nothing got opened, dumped down my sink, and no real messes were created. The main organizers son did manage to open my locked front security door and disappear to where no one could find him while his mom went to the restroom. He then proceeded to climb over my back fence and make his way back to my back door. I swear that's a child of Satan LOL. I say that jokingly, because basically his real problem is he lacks authority and discipline. I get so tired of hearing I wish my kids were more like your or listened like yours from her. Part of me just want to grab and shake her and say hello it's called strict discipline and being the adult not the friend. But whatever. At least he didn't wreck my house. I know I'm referred to as one of the strictest moms, but at least my kids don't hit other kids, run into the middle of parking lots, run away from me, pour stuff down others sinks, go through other people's drawers, and what not. So anyway after he did this he didn't even get as much as a lecture. I was like HELLO. He could have gone into the street or gotten taken. Oh well right. Not my kid. So the play date started at 10 and I think people finally started leaving around 2. My poor son was exhausted. He kept escaping to his room to lay on the floor and play with his cars alone because he had woke up so early. Kailee kept going. I swear that girl never tires LOL. After the final guest left I took both kids to my room for quiet time/nap time. Next thing I knew it was 6pm and we were all waking up. Even Kailee napped. I fixed us some dinner and we just cleaned the house up from earlier. Then we played some. It was about 8 which was time for baths. Neither one of the kids wanted out and stayed in playing for the longest. One they did get out we put pjs on and they were both ready for bed again. I didn't have any struggle at all. They were so exhausted. I was too. Unfortunately I just could not fall asleep. I've been taking my sleeping pills again since the lack of sleep has been catching up but they aren't doing much....
